Artist Statement

As an artist, I am fascinated by the idea that our homes are a reflection of ourselves. Our living spaces are not just functional places, but they can also be seen as an extension of our identity, a canvas for our creativity and self-expression. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, our homes have become even more important to us as we were forced to spend more time than ever before within their walls.

My latest project delves into this theme by exploring the personal spaces of individuals. Through photography, I aim to capture the unique character of each living space and the personal touches that make each space feel like home.

It is important to acknowledge that not all personal spaces are happy places, sometimes our living spaces are a reflection of the difficult emotions we are working through, and can even serve as a therapeutic space for us to heal and grow. In exploring these personal spaces, I aim to capture the depth and complexity of each individual's experience. Whether the space is a source of comfort or a reminder of a difficult time, I hope to showcase the power of our homes to support us through all aspects of life.

Ultimately, this project aims to celebrate the power of the home as a sanctuary for the mind and soul. Through capturing the essence of each space, I hope to inspire others to create a space that is truly their own, one that nurtures and supports their mental wellbeing. In showcasing the diversity of personal spaces and the range of emotions and experiences that they can represent, I aim to create a space for empathy, connection, and understanding.
